Due to the multitude of renewable raw materials that occur in nature, there is a broad spectrum of possible applications and technologies.

  
The role of renewable raw materials in industry is becoming increasingly important due to their many benefits. On one hand, they can be used energetically to produce heat and electricity, and on the other hand, they can be used in the chemical industry to manufacture key chemicals.

The abundance of raw materials and products necessitates a wide range or production methods, which include a great variety of basic process engineering operations ranging from mixing processes up to distillation and extraction. Many of these process combinations are relatively new and still have to be optimised and expanded in order to guarantee economical and reliable production. This is the most important success factor when working with renewable raw materials.
Based on many years of experience in planning, realising and optimising plants in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, VTU can offer specific expertise in all areas of plant construction.

Our references include, for example, the engineering and optimisation of plants for biodiesel production from plant and animal-based raw materials, extraction of ethanol and the generation of biogas from biogenic waste.
