Ionic Liquids

A new discovery in the world of liquid systems!

  
Ionic liquids represent a new class of technical products and are organic salts which melt at an ambient temperature with melting points up to minus 90 degree Celsius. They are not solutions of ionic compounds in a molecular solvent (these would be ionic solutions), but are liquid as pure substances. The chemical/physical properties of ionic liquids can be tuned very well to given technical aims. This can be achieved through targeted functionalization of anions and cations and through the systematic combination of various functionalised anions and cations with the efficient CBILS® synthesis route.

proionic - a member of the VTU group - develops new technologies based on ionic liquids. This technological development encompasses the whole path from finding the innovative idea, the feasibility to the R&D and pilot tests and the industrial realization.
